Hello my dear students

My dear students

My heart hurt when I heard about the earthquake in Sichuan. And immediately I thought of all of you and the students I have taught in PEL.

Are any of you from Sichuan, are your families alright??

I am sorry I have not written in the blog, I have been so busy with marking and tests and all the other work. How have you been . I am so very happy for those of you who have joined the Campus Crusade and have been reading the Bible...I know you have found the Peace and Joy that no one else can give. We have hope now and God to answer our every prayer and to protect us.

Take care of yourself

A story to share...

Dear Students

Someone sent me this story. I thought I would share with you. It has a lot of meaning. Enjoy !

During World War II, a US marine was separated from his unit on aPacific island. The fighting had been intense, and in the smoke and the crossfire he had lost touch with his comrades.Alone in the jungle, he could hear enemy soldiers coming in hisdirection. Scrambling for cover, he found his way up a high ridge toseveral small caves in the rock. Quickly he crawled inside one of thecaves.Although safe for the moment, he realized that once the enemy soldiers looking for him swept up the ridge, they would quickly search all thecaves and he would be killed. As he waited, he prayed,Lord, if it be your will, please protect me. Whatever your willthough, I love you and trust you. Amen. After praying, he lay quietly listening to the enemy begin to drawclose. He thought, well, I guess the Lord isn't going to help me outof this one.

Then he saw a spider begin to build a web over the front of his cave.As he watched, listening to the enemy searching for him all the while, the spider layered strand after strand of web across the opening ofthe cave.Hah, he thought. What I need is a brick wall and what the Lord has sent me is a spider web. God does have a sense of humor.

As the enemy drew closer he watched from the darkness of his hideoutand could see them searching one cave after another. As they came tohis, he got ready to make his last stand. To his amazement, however, after glancing in the direction of his cave, they moved on.Suddenly, he realized that with the spider web over the entrance, hiscave looked as if no one had entered for quite a while.Lord, forgive me, prayed the young man. I had forgotten that in you aspider's web is stronger than a brick wall.

We all face times of great trouble. When we do, it is so easy toforget the victories that God would work in our lives, sometimes inthe most surprising ways.Remember: Whatever is happening in your life, with God, a mere spidersweb can become a brick wall of protection. Believe He is with youalways and you will see His great power and love for you.

Have an awesome day, and know that someone who thinks you're great has and has thought about you today!

I am thinking of all of you... Take care !

my dear students

You all make me cry reading your comments. I MIss you all too, no more daughters to look after me. My daughter is fine and fully recovered. I am the one, sick now! I am losing my voice and coughing badly... I am drinking a lot of water and taking things easy.

I am very happy to learn that all of you are adjusting well.. keep on going and enjoying yourself!
Remember to study but must also make time for relaxation ok? Look after yourself and don't get sick.

Liu lei, the food was delicious, I enjoyed the ziao zi very much and everything else, I ate it at different timing, you are really a good cook!! Thank you so much for thinking and caring for me.

Make as many friends as you can, don;t be shy. Speak slower and they will understand you. Talk about how they feel, what you enjoy doing, ask them about their lives and what they enjoy doing. keep writing your thoughts, it helps your English. I will write often to. Take care

Book Review

Dear Students

Please remember to continue reading your books. We have a worksheet prepared for you and you have to hand it up by April 1, 2008. This is not an April Fool's Joke! Will tell you more in class tomorrow.

I hope you have had a chance to go on the Net to check on how Man has interfered with Nature. It will be interesting to talk about it too tomorrow. It is quite frightening to know that Man has also done much harm to Mother Nature. I do hope you will be able to find something so that we can discuss about this serious issue.

I had a restful weekend again. What about you???

Something amazing

my dear students

I hope you are not frightened by what we discussed in class today. I am looking forward to the debate on whether the Organ Trading should be allowed. I wonder if anyone has come up with anything interesting.

Did Ms Debbie sing for you in class??

Read more articles

My dear students

I am happy that many of you are reading the newspapers every morning and some have even come up to ask me what certain words mean. You are really trying and I am proud of your efforts!! I am glad also that some of you do exactly what I suggest you should do like, go into the 938 website and actually read the articles. This is responsible learning. This means that you are truly interested in your studies. Please continue to read other articles either from the Internet or the newspapers. This is to get you used to the massive amount of reading which you will have to do what term starts.

Please try also to listen to the English channel of the radio, it is good exposure for you. Next lesson, I suggest you listen to an English song and tell me what you have learnt from that song. Happy Listening!

I slept so much.....who is responsible for passing the bug??

My dear students

I have never done this before, I got up on saturday and sent my son to school, then came back and slept till 11.45am!!! Who is the one who did the magic on me so that I would sleep so much?? I remember someone saying she gets up for breakfast and then go back to sleep and then get up for lunch and so back to sleep again. I think it is HXin right??? I did just that. I went for lunch and came back to sleep again!!! But, really, it felt so good, I really needed that rest!! I wish I can do it again today!(Sunday)

Thank you for the many comments and confessions, for those who tried to speak English even when they were shy and afraid that people might laugh at them, congratulations!!! I am proud of you, you made an attempt and that is important. Continue to persevere and you will sson be on your way to speaking good English. For those still shy, TRY, you are not the only one embarrassed to speak it but when you overcome the fear, you will be very proud of yourself, just like the others. I thank those who have said they have fallen asleep in my class, and those who have not done your work well, thank you for being so honest. Those who have difficulties sleeping, drink warm milk before you sleep, it is supposed to help. Those with bad memory, calm yourself with the exercise and then do the exercises I taught you.

My dear students, I am happy that you see me as your mother. I try hard to be not just a teacher but also a friend. I know it is hard to leave your family and study here so I try to give you support and encouragement. I wish you health, peace and success always!

Read an article and summarise it, present in class tomorrow

My dear students

Now that you are in the lab, you can read an article, any article from the Internet, newspaper or any magazine you have, summarise it and tell us what the it is about in class tomorrow.

The main reason is to make you more comfortable reading, writing and speaking in English. I am very happy that some of you have written your comments but I want all to do that, so can we have the class representative check on who has not posted their comments yet. Please use this opportunity to read and write in English

Lillian and Song, thank you for your comments.. I am glad you are open to what I have said.

Enjoy your evening!

You have not told me how the visit was... I would like all to write a few sentences about how you feel about the visit to the Science Centre?

Also, you may want to tell me how you are getting along with the 2nd project for EHS.
